Give Your Eyes the Care They Deserve

Eye Disease Management Includes:

  • Comprehensive eye exam

Comprehensive eye exams are critical in catching sight-robbing eye diseases that typically don’t show early symptoms.

  • Diagnostic screening

Certain changes in your eyes can indicate eye conditions. Our optometrists can diagnose the disease and determine the cause of these changes.

  • Treatments and surgeries

We provide a wide range of treatments, including prescription eye drops and other medication. If needed, we'll refer you to the right specialist for eye surgery.

  • After care and follow-up

We provide follow-up exams and after-care treatments to help you manage your symptoms and safeguard your vision.

What Are the 4 Most Common Eye Diseases?

  • Diabetic Retinopathy

If you have diabetes, you should be aware of the risk of diabetic retinopathy. Elevated blood sugar can cause blood vessels in the eye to become inflamed or swell. In the early stages, you may not notice symptoms, but advanced diabetic retinopathy can cause blurred vision or eye inflammation.

    Diabetic retinopathy treatment includes:

    • Prescription medication
    • Laser surgeries
    • Anti-VEGF and steroid injections
    • Vitrectomy
  • Glaucoma

Glaucoma is a leading cause of blindness and often doesn’t show early symptoms. High pressure inside the eye causes glaucoma, and the purpose of glaucoma management is to reduce intraocular pressure.

    Glaucoma treatments include:

    • Prescription eye drops or medications
    • Laser procedures
    • Filtration surgery
    • Drainage tubes
    • Minimally invasive glaucoma surgery (MIGS)
  • Cataracts

Cataracts are cloudy formations on the eye lens. They can make your vision blurry and distorted. To restore normal vision, an optometrist will recommend cataract surgery, which involves replacing the cloudy lens with an artificial intraocular lens.

  • Macular Degeneration

Macular degeneration, or AMD, occurs when the macula or the central part of the retina deteriorates. This results in blurred and distorted vision.

There are two types of AMD: Dry AMD and Wet AMD.

Although there isn’t a treatment for dry AMD, lifestyle changes and specific supplements can help prevent further vision deterioration.

    Wet AMD treatments include:

    • Photodynamic therapy
    • Anti-VEGF injections
    • Laser photocoagulation

What a really wonderful experience. Everyone from Tiffany, Carly, Dr Crawford and especially Libby w... ere so wonderful and nice. And what I really appreciated was they made excellent suggestions that prevented me from picking glasses that would make me look like a complete and total moron. Honestly the process was really quick and smooth and everybody was so friendly and nice that it just made for a pleasant experience. Everyone was passionate and knowledgeable. If I had questions they were thoroughly answered. Carly who does that annoying puff thing in the eye was really super funny and just generally made me feel comfortable and relaxed. Dr Crawford took a few extra minutes to explain something to my I'd always wondered and I just really appreciated her kindness and her knowledge. Libby should just do this professionally like become one of those $10,000 a session people that help you pick the right glasses. Basically after piling through a whole crapload of different frames we ended up picking the ones that she recommended. I cannot recommend them all enough. It was a really nice experience.

I was having some difficulty with my new progressive lenses, which was odd for me because that is no... t typically a struggle. I stopped in, they made a quick adjustment, and it worked like magic. What’s more…I don’t think you can beat their selection of frames anywhere. Highly recommend the Shadyside location!

I was genuinely impressed with everyone at eyetique. The staff was super friendly and accommodating.... Dr. Crawford was kind and explained everything very clearly and answered all our questions. The eye exam felt like it was very thorough. And at the end, we didn’t feel pressured to buy our frames from the location. We’ll definitely be coming back here.
